Two rescued from water after jet ski breaks down

A volunteer crew was launched from Looe Lifeboat Station on Saturday

Two people have been rescued from the sea after their jet ski malfunctioned, the RNLI has said.
They entered the water off Millendreath, near Looe, at about 12:00 BST on Saturday, when the rotor of their jet ski became tangled in rope.
A lifeboat was launched after a report from a member of the public and a coastguard tasking. One of the people was clinging onto the jet ski when the crew arrived, while the other had started to swim towards shore for help. Both were brought onboard the lifeboat and taken back to shore.
Lifeboat operations manager Clive Palfrey said if they had been in the water any longer, they would have been "at real risk" of suffering hypothermia.
The people had been wearing buoyancy aids, but did not have a means of calling for help, the RNLI said.
Mr Palfrey added it was "fortunate" members of the public had spotted something was wrong and raised the alarm.
"The lifeboat reached the casualties within 15 minutes of the first report, and they were already very cold," he said.
"This quick response prevented the incident escalating into something far more serious."
