A greengrocers and refill station will open in a Cornish town on Saturday as part of a project to support people with learning and physical disabilities.

The Kehelland Trust charity hopes the new shop in Camborne will help the young people it works with to get work experience and training.

The shop will sell a range of fresh vegetables, herbs, produce, groceries, milk, honey, eggs and preserves.

Most of the produce sold at the shop has been grown and produced at the trust's 16 acres of green space in Kehelland, near Camborne.

Dawn Frisby, Kehelland Trust's sales coordinator, said: “We believe it's really important that everybody is part of the community because it keeps people safe, and it helps to break down barriers.”

The shop will open on a phased basis which will include a period of public consultation.

The charity hopes to meet the initial needs of the Camborne community, before refurbishing, adding new stock and opening with the full range of products.

Kehelland trust currently offers services for learners and trainees from across Cornwall.

Camborne Mayor, Zoe Fox, said: “I am delighted with the news that Kehelland trust will be providing jobs and training opportunities by opening a much-needed greengrocer in the town."
