A festival which was described as a "shambles" after being called off just as it was about to start is due to return.

Up to 60,000 people had been expected to attend Loosefest on Newcastle's Town Moor in 2023, with many already queuing when it was cancelled.

This year's two-day event features a number of '90s singers and bands, such as Ronan Keating, Peter Andre and Atomic Kitten.

Organisers have said the ground is in "excellent shape" for the festival.

Heavy rain halted the festival last August, with organisers saying the site was "not safe to open".

Many people were left frustrated after spending money on accommodation, transport and tickets.

Loosefest director Dean Saunders said: "Everyone has been non-stop getting the site ready for LooseFest 2024, especially after last year's weather bomb.

"We’ve worked extremely hard as a team to take every precaution imaginable to ensure that the ground is as perfect as possible, so we can all enjoy the event as the sun shines down on the Town Moor.

"The ground is in excellent shape, the stages are built and we now just can’t wait for everyone to have the best weekend”.
