A woman has set up a running support group for people affected by cancer after her own diagnosis.

Jenna Ferris, who received treatment for stage three bowel cancer, is launching the 5k Your Way group at the Trelissick Parkrun event near Truro on 29 June.

The initiative, which was started by the charity Move Against Cancer, aims to encourage all those affected by cancer, including families, to get active by running or walking 5km (3.1m).

Ms Ferris said the group would be the first of its kind in Cornwall and she hopes it gets people moving.

Ms Ferris, who was diagnosed in 2020, said she lost the confidence to get active after going through treatment.

She said she had heard about about another 5k Your Way in Plymouth and thought it was something that would benefit Cornwall.

"I said when I'm better, I'm definitely going to bring one of these to Cornwall," she said.

"There must be so many other people out there who want to move, who want to get outdoors who know deep, deep down that doing some exercise is going to benefit them in so many ways."

The group is set to meet on the last Saturday of every month.
