Exploding police canisters closed A3
- Published
A stretch of the A3 in Surrey was closed due to exploding gas canisters, which belonged to the police.
Officers removed four canisters from the carriageway, near American Golf in Guildford, at 17:40 BST on Tuesday.
Upon examination, the canisters were found to be flash-bang distraction devices used by the armed response team, Surrey Police said.
“The incident is currently being reviewed to identify any learning for those involved,” a spokesman said.
Nobody was injured and no reports were made of any cars being damaged, the force added.
The canisters were removed to a safe location and subjected to a controlled explosion.
