A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a 60-year-old man died when a boat capsized off the coast of southern Scotland.
The incident took place near to Port William in Dumfries and Galloway on 19 November 2022.
Murray McCubbin, from Annan, was taken to Galloway Community Hospital where he died a short time later.
A police statement added that a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
A statement from Mr McCubbin's family, issued by lawyers Digby Brown, said: “We welcome the update in the criminal investigation as it brings us closer to learning the truth about what happened at sea that day.
“The loss of Murray is something that shattered our family – he was a loving partner, father and Papa and there is not a day that goes by where we don’t think of him.
“We would like to thank our friends and family for their support over the last 16 months but we now request that our privacy is respected as we await the outcome of the criminal investigation.”
