Attackers convicted after tower block killing

Two men have been convicted of killing a father of two in the hallway of a tower block.
Ali Salih Abdalaah, 36, was beaten to death at Brecon Tower in Ladywood, Birmingham, in October 2022.
After a three-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Dale Berry-Parkes, 32, was convicted of manslaughter.
Co-defendant Hardi Hamad, 35, had already admitted manslaughter with diminished responsibility.
West Midlands Police said the attack happened after a woman contacted Hamad and Berry-Parkes to tell them she had been sexually assaulted.
The men, both from Birmingham, later turned up outside Mr Abdalaah's home and fatally attacked him on his doorstep, officers added.
CCTV captured them leaving the tower and driving away in two cars.
The pair were arrested four days later on 12 October 2022 after handing themselves in to a police station.
In tribute to Mr Abdalaah, his family described him as very hard-working, happy and kind.
"He was a loving father who dedicated his life to his children," they said.
"Our lives have been shattered. As a family and community particularly his young children, we are all devastated by his death which has changed our children’s lives forever.”
Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison said the men had launched a horrific and senseless attack on Mr Abdalaah.
“I hope this conviction brings some closure to Ali’s family following their tragic loss. Our thoughts remain with them," she said.
Berry-Parkes and Hamad are due to be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 4 July.
