A man has appeared in court charged with raping a woman in Sheffield city centre.

Ansar Younis, 41, of Hatherley Road in Sheffield, is accused of attacking the woman near Mulberry Street in the city centre in the early hours of Saturday morning.

In a brief appearance at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Monday, he was remanded in custody.

Mr Younis is next due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 20 October.
