A building which holds significant historical and cultural value in Jersey will open to visitors on Saturday, the government has said.

The Government of Jersey said the Jersey Property Holdings (JPH) had been overseeing the relocation and display of memorabilia within the Howard Davis Hall.

It said the restoration of the portrait of TB Davis was currently in progress and was under the expert supervision of Jersey Heritage.

Constable Andy Jehan, the infrastructure minister, said ensuring its preservation while increasing public access was a "key priority".

He said: "I'm pleased to see progress on this work and look forward to seeing the hall brought back into greater use for the community."

The government added discussions were under way with Jersey Heritage to manage the hall.
