Bereaved parents invited to baby loss service
- Published
A memorial service is being held this weekend for parents who have experienced baby loss.
The annual service, held by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is for people who have lost a baby at any stage of pregnancy, birth, or infancy.
“For many families it’s their way of honouring their still very much-loved, and very much-missed, babies,” said Carole Sadler, a specialist bereavement midwife at the trust.
The service will take place at St Patrick’s RC Church on Sunday and it is open to families of any faith and background.
Those who attend will be able to light a candle in memory of their baby and also place a personal message on “memory trees”.
There were similar memorial services for bereaved parents in Walsall and Coventry earlier this month, to coincide with Baby Loss Awareness Week, which ran from 9-15 October.
Sunday’s service will be hosted by the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust's chaplaincy team, alongside bereavement midwives and other hospital staff.
“Together we hope we can comfort people and honour their little ones,” said Reverend Joe Fielder, the trust’s lead chaplain.
