Police are investigating after a man was found dead in Strawberry Dale, Harrogate

Three men have been arrested after police launched a murder inquiry following the discovery of a man's body in a flat in Harrogate.

North Yorkshire Police were called to reports of an incident in Strawberry Dale just before 23:00 BST on Sunday.

The man, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Two men aged 26 and 34 were arrested on suspicion of murder, with a third man in his 40s arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All three currently remained in custody, police said.

The force said it would notify the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to previous police contact with the victim.

Det Supt Jonathon Sygrove said: "We would urge anyone with information that may assist our investigation to get in touch straight away.

"We know this will be extremely worrying for the local community, and officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team will be on duty today and carrying out reassurance patrols in the area."
