A dog that suffered brain damage after being kicked in the head is now in the care of a rescue centre.

West Mercia Police has launched an appeal for information after a man was seen walking the dog on Leominster high street before becoming tangled in the lead and falling to the ground moments before the attack.

He began to kick the dog in the head before being pulled away by a member of public. The man left the area leaving the dog, police said.

Officers said the attack happened in September. They are unsure of the specific date but are aware of a group of girls who witnessed the incident, who are being encouraged to contact police with information.
