Plans to convert a former motorbike showroom into a 24-hour gym have been approved.

The new Master Flex gym will open in the ex-Appleyard Motorcycle showroom on Coney Lane, in Keighley town centre.

The site had also operated as a Nissan dealership in recent years.

A planning application for the change of use was submitted to Bradford Council by Zohaib Ahmed earlier this year.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the application said: "We would like to repurpose the building as a gym to provide and promote health and fitness services to our community.

"We want to provide a safe fitness space for the community and create a comfortable and involving environment for the Keighley residents.

"As an industrial town, with many working nightshift and late finishes, our residents face difficulty finding time in their existing schedules to pursue a healthy lifestyle.

"We hope to provide a facility that can cater to those needs and encourage our community to engage in a healthy lifestyle."

Planning officers at the council recently approved the new business.

Car parking will be provided at the gym, with 54 spaces proposed, as well as cycle storage and additional disabled spaces.
