An inmate has been found guilty of throwing a cup of faeces over a prison officer in revenge for losing his job in the jail's servery.

Courtney Matthew, 34, previously claimed the substance was melted Maltesers and water, bought from the prison shop at Parc Prison in Bridgend.

But the jury at Cardiff Crown Court found him guilty of administering a noxious thing with intent to aggrieve or annoy, contrary to the 1861 Offences against the Person Act.

Judge Vanessa Francis told the jury he would be sentenced to at least two years in prison.

Matthew, who is serving a sentence at HMP Swaledale on Sheppey Island didn't appear at Cardiff Crown Court for the trial.

He will be sentenced on 4 February.
