Person treated after 'potentially hazardous' spill

One person was treated by paramedics after a spillage of "potentially hazardous materials" in Aberdeen.

Emergency services were made aware of a substance on the ground at South Esplanade East shortly after 13:15.

A specialist team was sent to the scene.

Police said there was no threat to the wider public and the spillage had been cleared.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted to an incident involving potentially hazardous materials.

"Operations control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist HAZMAT resources to the scene.

"One casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Firefighters have now left the scene after ensuring the area was safe."

Police Scotland confirmed: "Emergency services attended South Esplanade East where a substance had spilled on the ground.

“The spillage was within a confined area and there was no threat to the wider public. The spillage has been cleared.”
