Road works to delay commuters for months
- Published
Commuters have been warned to expect delays for months due to road works near a town centre.
SP Energy Networks (SPEN) have said one lane will be closed on the southbound A49 in Warrington, Cheshire, as it installs a new underground electricity cable.
The firm said the length of the lane closure would be restricted to 1,640ft (500m) at a time on the A49 as the work moves along.
The company said the work will start on Monday 6 January and continue until the spring.
One lane will also be closed on neighbouring Hawleys Lane with temporary traffic lights.
SPEN said a team would be working from 07:00 to 17:00 GMT up to seven days a week.
A spokesperson said: "SPEN have committed to keeping impacts on people as low as possible.
"There will however be some temporary disruption while the work is carried out."
