Nominations for Sporting Achievement Awards open

Nominations are now open for the Guernsey Sporting Achievement Awards 2024.

The awards recognise the achievements of individuals, teams and coaches that have performed to an outstanding level during the past 12 months.

Organised by the Guernsey Sports Commission, people have until 9 December to make nominations across 12 categories, external, ahead of the ceremony in January.

Commission director Graham Chester said the awards were an opportunity to highlight top sporting talent.

Winners at the 2023 awards ceremony included Premier League footballer Alex Scott who won outstanding performer of the year.

'Best of local talent'

Mr Chester said there had been a lot of domestic and international sporting action over the last year.

"From those competing at Olympic level to some of our young sports stars just starting out on their sporting careers, these awards celebrate the very best of local talent," he said.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for all sports to put forward their top teams, coaches or individuals for one of the awards and I would encourage all local sporting organisations to get nominating.

"We want the evening to be a real celebration of the breadth and depth of sport here in Guernsey and share some of the stories around the top performances of the last 12 months."

The criteria for each award are available on the Commission’s website, external where there is a simple online nomination form to complete.
