A new youth bus is coming to East Yorkshire over the summer holidays.

In partnership with Humberside Police, East Riding of Yorkshire Council will provide a range of activities in Hessle and Howden.

Activities will include DJ, street art and dance workshops, multisport with Hull FC and wrestling in sumo suits.

As part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, it will be available for young people aged 11 and over on benefit-related free school meals.

The youth bus was developed as part of the Barnardo's collaboration project with East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Voices Mean Choices.

Councillor Victoria Aitken, cabinet member for children, families and education said: "These sessions offer a fun, free way for young people to come together, in safe spaces.

"Young people have been involved in developing the youth bus concept and the designing of the bus, as well as the activities that will be running."

Parents can book funded places for youngsters who are in receipt of benefits-related free school meals and go to an East Riding school.

Pupils with an education, health and care plan can also have a place on the programme.

The Hessle sessions take place on Thursday evenings from 15:30 to 19:30 BST and in Howden on Wednesday evenings at the same time.
