The street has what look like fairly new build homes. Parked cars are either side in bays just off of the road. There's a few streetlights. There's clouds in the sky but it's not overcast.Image source, Google

Officers have carried out a controlled explosion after suspicious items were found at a home.

Essex Police said it had initially attended the property in Britten Avenue, Basildon, at 12:56 BST, for what it said were unrelated matters.

But the force said explosives and chemicals experts were called after antique-style collectables were discovered at the home.

The explosion took place in an area off Borwick Lane at about 17:00 BST, a spokesperson said.
