A convenience shop in Guernsey has announced it is closing after "many wonderful years" of serving its community.

Staff at the seafront Cobo Village Centre did not give a reason for the closure but said it would happen before the end of the year.

A Facebook post, written on behalf of the family running the shop and other staff, said the announcement was being made with "mixed emotions".

"We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your loyalty and support over the years," the post said.

The store acknowledged the recent death of shopkeeper Ralph Le Page, aged 67.

"As you can imagine his granddaughters are finding it soul destroying without him," the statement said.
