Primary school decisions revealed by council

Nearly all children in Wolverhampton who will start infant or primary school in September have got a place at one of their preferred schools, the city council said.

Parents of children starting primary school in England and Wales in autumn find out on Tuesday, external which school has offered them a place.

City of Wolverhampton Council said 91% of children have got their first-choice school and 98% overall have one of their preferred choices.

Waiting lists were in operation with places made available when and if they became free, the council added.

Parents can appeal a decision and, in England, have at least 20 school days from the day of the offer to submit one, external.

Parents and carers with children due to start their primary education in 2025 were encouraged by the council to think about their preferred schools now due to demand, Brenda Wile, deputy director of education at the council, said.
