A woman has been sexually assaulted by a man at Dover Castle, police said.

The force is appealing for witnesses after the sexual assault in the wartime tunnels at about 13:30 BST on Sunday 6 April.

Kent Police described the suspect as a white man in his 40s wearing a black or grey tracksuit.

Officers said they had carried out "a number of inquiries", including reviewing CCTV footage, and urged anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Dover Castle confirmed to the BBC they reported an incident on Sunday.

"We are supporting the police in their ongoing investigation," they added.
