A care home shut down by inspectors two years ago is to become a private residence after planning permission was granted by the council.
Belton House Retirement Home in Belton, Rutland, closed two years ago after the Care Quality Commission found it was not up to standard and de-registered it.
Planning documents submitted by the current owners of the Grade II listed building say they "fully intend to return Belton House back to its former glory as a susbstantial country house".
The Local Democracy Reporting Service says the application has now been approved by Rutland County Council.
The house was built in the 1830s by the Eagleton family, who were wealthy tea importers, and underwent a large extension in the early 1900s.
It became a care home in the 1980s but was sold to its current owners in 2024 following its closure.
Planning documents state while the owners hope to alter the layout, there are no plans to extend the building, which features 26 en-suite bedrooms and is set in four acres of land with a summer lodge in the grounds.
