A 71-year-old man was killed after his car left the road and crashed in West Lancashire, police have said.

Responding to a report that a Ford Focus Zetec had left the carriageway, officers were called to New Cut Lane in Halsall shortly after 13:00 BST on Sunday.

The driver was was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lancashire Police said it did not believe any other vehicles were involved and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
