The Snake Pass in Derbyshire is closed to traffic after a "serious collision"

A popular and scenic route in the Peak District has been closed to traffic following a "serious collision".

It happened on the A57 Snake Pass, near Glossop, Derbyshire, on Sunday afternoon.

Police have subsequently confirmed to the BBC that the crash involved two motorbikes.

In a short statement on X, formerly Twitter,, external Derbyshire Police urged people to avoid the area.

A long stretch of the road - often used as a route between Manchester and Sheffield - has been closed to traffic.
