A bus service to help patients in parts of Hull and East Yorkshire access health services has launched.

The project is a joint venture between Hull City Council (HCC) and East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC).

The service will run as a trial until March 2025 and take passengers to Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.

It will serve west Hull, Anlaby, Cottingham, Hessle, Kirk Ella and Willerby, officials said.

Councillor Paul West, cabinet member for environment and transport at ERYC, said the service would enable residents to get to essential hospital appointments.

His counterpart at HCC, councillor Mark Ieronimo, added that the service would benefit those "who can't use the main bus network".

Hospital bosses said they hoped the service would lead to a reduction in cancellations or non-attendances caused by transport problems.

Booking can be made by calling 03456 445959, or by emailing details of the journey to: passengerbookings@eastriding.gov.uk
