Two men have been charged after vehicles, drugs and large quantities of cash were seized by police in operations in Midlothian and Dumfries and Galloway.

Officers recovered four cars, 16 motorbikes, six quad bikes and seven electric bikes along with drugs worth more than £300,000 in raids on containers in Bonnyrigg and Newbattle on Thursday and Friday respectively.

Police in Dumfries and Galloway carried out 20 search warrants over two weeks and recovered more than £51,000 worth of drugs and £75,000 in cash. Addresses were searched in Dumfries, Lockerbie, Annan and Sanquhar.

Two men, aged 28 and 23, are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the seizures.

Det Ch Insp Barry McDaid said the operations in Midlothian had been "extremely successful".

Police Scotland said the work in the south of Scotland also resulted in a number of people being arrested and charged with various offences, including drugs supply.

Other crimes detected included drug driving and possession of offensive weapons.

Officers have also referred a number of vulnerable people to support services to help tackle drug-related harm.
