Man assaulted after men armed with hammers force entry to property

The incident happened at Loopland Park in east Belfast

A man has been taken to hospital after a group of masked men forced entry to a home in east Belfast and assaulted him.

Police were alerted to the incident at Loopland Park at approximately 00:20 BST on Sunday.

Eight masked men, armed with what is believed to have been bats and hammers, forced their way inside the property and assaulted the resident.

The man sustained injuries to his head and body.

He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

Police are appealing for information.
