A care provider wants to turn a property in Brothertoft into a children's home

Plans have been submitted for a care home for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Virtue Therapeutic Care & Education (East Sussex) Limited is seeking permission to convert a house on Punchbowl Lane, Brothertoft, into a facility for up to six children aged between seven and 18, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Up to three carers and a manager would be on-site during the day, with two carers on duty overnight.

Boston Borough Council will consider the application at a later date.

According to plans, the home would include a cinema room, a games room and a library.

The care provider said the development would provide children with a sense of belonging and security, helping create a positive transition into adulthood.

It added: "This type of support has been found to be most effective in helping these children to have normal lives and not experience problems in later life."

During the day it is expected that the children would engage in "various activities" in addition to attending either a mainstream or special school, the company said.

In some cases, the children may receive some home schooling but "only while they settle in".
