A man is in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after a petrol-powered go-kart crashed into a bollard.

The incident happened at the Hawksworth Trading Estate, in Swindon, when the go-kart left the road in Newcome Drive just before midnight on Sunday.

The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

Wiltshire Police have closed the road for investigation work and expect it to re-open at about 12:00 BST. The force is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.
