Wolverhampton polling stations open for voters

Voters will be heading to the polls until 22:00 BST on Thursday

Across Wolverhampton people are making their way to the polling station to cast their vote in the UK general election.

Voters will decide who becomes the local MP and which party wins the UK's general election overall.

There are three constituencies in Wolverhampton, out of a total of 650 in the UK. Each returns one MP to the House of Commons.

In England there are 543; 57 in Scotland; 32 in Wales and 18 in Northern Ireland.

Polling stations are open between 07:00 BST and 22:00. You can vote as long as you are in the queue before 22:00.

Voters are being reminded that they will need to take photographic ID with them.

There are 22 acceptable forms of ID, including passports, driving licences, Older or Disabled Person's bus passes, Oyster 60+ cards.

You can use out-of-date photo ID as long as you look the same.
