Man named following death at Edinburgh flat

A 53-year-old man who was found dead in an Edinburgh flat has been named as Brian Ramsay.

Police were called to Westfield Road in the Gorgie area of the city at about 12:55 on Friday when an alarm was raised over concern for a man inside the property.

Mr Ramsay was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 43-year-old man appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday and has been charged in connection with the death.

Mr Ramsay's family released a statement through Police Scotland.

His family said: "We are shocked and saddened by his death.

"We would ask that we are given privacy to come to terms with our loss at this time."

Police Scotland have asked anyone with information that could assist in their inquiries to get in touch, external.

Det Insp David McAlinden said: “Our inquiries into the full circumstances of this incident remain ongoing.

"Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the Mr Ramsay, and we will continue to support them during this difficult time."
