Arrest made after metal pole used to beat motorist

Police say a man was attacked with a metal pole

Police are appealing for information about a "violent assault" in which a man was hit with a metal pole in a car park.

The victim suffered multiple injuries to his head and arm, Kent Police said.

A 40-year-old man, from Dunton Green, has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Police said the assault took place at about 18:50 on 7 May in a car park in New Ash Green.

The victim had asked a man to move out of the way so he could safely access a car parking space off Centre Road, police said.

They said once the car was parked, the suspect opened a door and attacked the victim.

The man was struck several times before he was able to disarm his attacker and drive away.

Police believe there may have been several other people in the car park who may have seen the assault taking place.

Det Con Katie Gregory said: "We believe there are important witnesses to this assault who have yet to contact the police."

The suspect was released on conditional police bail to 1 August.
