A road is being closed temporarily to allow safety work to take place after a car crashed into a 600-year-old hotel and pub.

Emergency services were called to the Langport Arms, in Cheapside, Somerset, at 20:20 BST on 1 June after a car crashed into and damaged the building's pillars.

Now, to allow the crash site to be cleared and to be made safe, the closure on the A378 is expected to be in place from 06:00 until 08:00 on Friday.

Somerset Council is advising drivers to plan ahead.

According to the Devon and Somerset Fire Service (DSFS), the driver of the car was treated by paramedics but did not suffer any serious injuries.
