Man bailed as murder investigation continues

A 75-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed until 14 September

A man who was arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Liskeard has been released on bail, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a 75-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of a woman in her 40s near Merrymeet, Liskeard, on Saturday.

Earlier, the force said the man had since been conditionally bailed until 14 September pending further inquiries.

A police spokesperson added the incident had been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to "prior police contact with the deceased earlier in the year".
