A campaign has been launched to get people thinking about standing for election in Jersey.

Vote.je - the States of Jersey's official election guide - has set up the "Plan to Stand" campaign ahead of the election in 2026 when all 49 roles in the States Assembly will be up for grabs.

The campaign calls on islanders of all ages and professions who are eligible to stand and want to help their community, to consider doing so.

Elections are held for Jersey's States Assembly every four years with the last vote taking place on 22 June, 2022.

Vote.je campaign manager Emily Thomas said it is hoped the initiative will also encourage people on the island to vote.

She said: "Islanders told us they want high quality candidates and parties that are clear about who they are and what they stand for.

"The 'Plan To Stand' campaign sets out to inspire and empower potential candidates to take action early and prepare to deliver their best possible election campaign that builds connections and trust with voters."
