Brighton team's joy at winning ice swimming gold

A Brighton team has won gold at the Winter Swimming World Championship.
The Disco Dippers went to Estonia to take part in the competition and won gold for their show performance to Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper.
The group also had participants in single and relay events in the 0C (32F) fresh water pool which is cut out of ice.
Group member Lou Murie said: “We never thought it was possible or that we would be getting a gold medal or be world champions."
She added: "We are so happy and overjoyed really. It’s beyond belief.”
The Winter Swimming World Championship 2024 was held in Estonia's capital, Tallinn, between 4-10 March.
The Brighton group brought 13 members to the competition, which is hosted every two years.
Disco Dippers' Candice Davis, who explained that members were mainly aged between 35-55, said: "The theme of our performance was about fun. I think people underestimate having fun when you get a bit older.”
The group were also joined in some events by Erik Fellman, who has documented his adventures ice water swimming to his 300,000 followers on TikTok.
More than 2,000 participants from countries including Argentina, Chile and the US took part in the event.
