The co-founder of one of Europe's biggest skateboard and bike parks said it was a "true honour" to have a Spanish national BMX freestyle team train at her site.

Six riders from the under-23 group spent four days at Adrenaline Alley in Corby, Northamptonshire.

The park has also been used by Olympic gold medallist Charlotte Worthington and bronze medallist Declan Brooks.

Co-founder and chief executive Mandy Young said it was "truly remarkable" how far the park had come since it opened more than 20 years ago.

'Facilities are great'

Adrenaline Alley is the primary training hub for the Great British BMX freestyle team.

It offers facilities for BMX, skateboard and scooter riders and has ramps, foam pits and training areas - catering for everyone from beginners to Olympians.

The park in the Northamptonshire town was inspired by Mrs Young's son John.

He was a keen skater, but while at school he was attacked and had his skateboard stolen.

Ms Young said: "Being acknowledged as a global hub for action sports, particularly by national teams from other countries, is a true honour."

Alejandro Alcojor, Spain's BMX freestyle team coach, said: "It is a pleasure to be enjoying ourselves here, and above all learning.

"The facilities are great, there are all sizes of ramps, and this has allowed us to work towards the world cups."
