Seven arrested in rural burglaries raids

Seven men have been arrested and weapons including guns seized, in a series of raids.

West Mercia Police said it searched four properties in Broseley along with others in Cross Houses, Donnington and Shrewsbury.

It followed an eight-month investigation into burglaries at farms and rural businesses, they added.

The men, who are all in their 20s and 30s, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.

The force said there had been a string of rural burglaries in Shropshire and Det Sgt Ben Docherty, said: “We understand what impact such a crime can have on insurance premiums, food prices and damage to local communities."

Three firearms along with a number of knives, a large quantity of cash, power tools and designer watches were seized at the addresses.

All seven men remained in police custody.
