An A-road was closed after a van with scout equipment in burst into flames.
It happened at about 14:00 BST on the A380 at Ashcombe Cross, in Devon, the fire service confirmed.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service's crews used air foam to extinguish the blaze.
It said the vehicle was "carrying scout belongings" and the scouts "were travelling in a separate minibus". No-one was injured in the blaze, the service said.
Firefighters from Torquay and Newton Abbot attended the fire, and assisted in the fuel spillage clear-up.
