A club event created by actress Vicky McClure and her film producer and DJ husband Jonny Owen is being hailed for bringing back the old-school clubbing scene.

Day Fever is geared towards people over 30 and organisers say it helps people celebrate nostalgia through music "and still make it home in time for dinner".

It will take place at Birmingham's O2 Institute on 8 June as part of a countrywide tour.

Mr Owen said they had received many messages "from the great city of Birmingham" asking when the event would take place in the city.

"We really wanted to get down there and along to see it," he told BBC Radio WM of the plans for Birmingham.

Day Fever started in January and has been a hit since its inception.

"I'd be lying if I said I expected this reaction, but it just seems to have sold out everywhere right across the country." Mr Owen said.

In Birmingham, doors open at 15:00 GMT and it continues until 20:00 GMT.

Ms McClure laughed as she spoke of a particular incident when Day Fever DJ Jon McClure, frontman of Reverend and the Makers, went on a shopping trip with his wife after a daytime club event.

"[They] went and did their food shop, there's so much time [left in the night] that we can still use to get our chores done," she said.

She and Mr Owen urged prospective patrons to not worry if they missed Day Fever this time around as they planned on making it a monthly event.
