A search operation for a boy who fell from the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare has resumed after being delayed again on Thursday due to bad weather.

The boy was reported missing on Tuesday.

The search resumed at noon and as well as the Coast Guard, Irish civil defence volunteers are conducting a search using five drones and a rescue helicopter.

Irish broadcaster RTÉ reported that the boy was holidaying in Ireland with his family.

RTÉ also reported on Wednesday that the crew of a rescue helicopter had spotted what they believed to be a body in the water at the base of a cliff.

A spokesperson from the Department of Transport in Ireland confirmed the Irish Coast Guard was supporting a Garda operation at the Cliffs of Moher.

The department said coast guard units had used boats, drones and divers during the operation.
