A county will receive a new electric library bus after funding was provided to replace an existing mobile library.

Worcestershire County Council said it was given more than £300,000 to fund the vehicle which it said would help it provide opportunities for people to meet up and get books.

It would also allow the authority to enhance its existing service and enable school visits, digital skills sessions and health and wellbeing sessions, a spokesperson added.

The money for the new bus has come from the Libraries Improvement Fund, run by Arts Council England.

Hannah Perrott, the council’s assistant director for communities, said: “We are thrilled to receive this grant which will enable us to modernise our mobile library service.”
