The Isle of Man fast craft has returned to normal crossing times after repairs to an engine, the ferry firm has confirmed.

A fault with the Manannan's inner starboard-side engine had led to longer sailings between Douglas and Liverpool since 2 May.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said engineers had fixed the problem while working around the ship's scheduled sailings.

While sailings between the island and Liverpool had continued during the period, crossing times were increased by 45 minutes, with a single journey taking three-and-a-half hours.

With the repairs completed, the Steam Packet is set to have its full fleet of flagship Manxman and the fast craft Manannan, as well as back-up vessel the Ben-my-Chree operational as the company approaches its busiest fortnight of the year for this during TT.

However, the government-owned ferry firm has confirmed visitors to the island for the event will continue to use the Pier Head landing stage at Liverpool because berthing trials are still taking place at the new terminal at Princes Half-Tide Dock.
