Teenagers guilty of murder after double stabbing

The jury heard the defendants had met with Omar Khan and his partner to carry out a drug deal

Two teenage boys who were involved in a double stabbing have been found guilty of murder.

Omar Khan, 38, died at the scene after being stabbed in the Sundon Park area of Luton in September.

Bedfordshire Police said a second victim, Cheyenne Barnes, who was with Mr Khan, was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery for life-changing injuries.

The boys, who are both 17 and cannot be named for legal reasons, are due to be sentenced in May.

The jury was told the defendants had met Mr Khan and his partner, also 38, behind the Tesco in Sundon Park Parade in order to sell them drugs.

Minutes later the boys were seen running from the scene.

Both teenagers were also found guilty of wounding with intent and one boy was guilty of having an article with a blade or point.

During the trial, the jury at Guildford Crown Court heard how one teenager had bought 63 knives in the months leading up to the killing.

Before the trial took place one of the boys pleaded guilty to the possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and both admitted to being involved in the supply of drugs.

Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit linked the boys to the crime through CCTV, forensic and phone evidence.

Det Insp Justine Jenkins, who led the investigation, described the incident as "incredibly tragic".

She said: “We will keep doing everything in our power to apprehend those who use knives and endanger public safety.

"I sincerely hope that this conviction will serve as a wake-up call to others considering carrying a weapon."
