A vibrant parade celebrating the LGBTQ+ community is returning to Cheltenham this weekend.

Kicking off at 11:15 BST, more than 100 people are expected to march in the colourful parade through the Gloucestershire town on Saturday.

The free event, at Imperial Gardens, will be headlined by contestant on TV show RuPaul's Drag Race, Copper Topp, and will be hosted by Kara Von Site.

Dance music songstress Angie Brown will also be performing.

You're the Voice is 2024's theme, which encourages people to speak out about their lived experience and issues which impact them.

This year will also see the launch of the inaugural Pride Dog Show, with entry costing £2 per dog.

Pride in Gloucestershire's chairperson, Richard Stevens, said: "Ensuring the voice of LGBTQ+ people is heard is important now more than ever.

"Pride is not just about a celebration, it's also really important to connect with a community that can feel very isolated and targeted.

"We know trans hate crime has increased - so it's a really important safe space for people to come and really connect, enjoy, learn and also get access to support from many of the community stalls that we have on offer."

Copper Topp said they were "so excited to be headlining in their hometown".

"This is a huge celebration of Gloucestershire’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community.

"This year we come together to uplift our trans community who demonstrate relentless bravery on a daily basis.

"Join me on stage at 17:00 alongside some of Gloucestershire’s best and brightest queer talent," they said.
