'We need role models' - Coventry Pride organisers
- Published
A trustee of Coventry Pride has said the city needs "role models and to promote equality in the city," as the event returns after two years.
A march starting from Broadgate Square will kick off the event at 11:00 BST on Saturday before the main event begins at 12:00 in FarGo Village.
Trustee Richard Harty said that the charity was working with organisations to make Coventry safer for the community and educate people about the importance of being more inclusive.
"Lots of people need our help in our community," he added.
Chair Gemma Musgreaves said the march was really important to show that pride was not just a party, but about being visible and loud.
"It's important for people to have this space of celebration and acceptance," she said.
Ms Musgreaves added that the event would show solidarity and say that "we see you, we accept you and we love it."
Coventry Pride will end its main event at 18:00 with celebrations and entertainment continuing at The Yard afterwards.
