People living in a Lincolnshire village say they are “terrified” about plans for a large housing development.

A proposal for 109 homes in Welton, near Lincoln, has been submitted.

Members of the Ryland Residents' Group have described the plans as “dangerous”.

The applicant's agent, Brown&Co, has been approached for comment.

If approved, the properties would be built on land at Eastfield Lane.

West Lindsey District Council has said the planning application for the site was considered on 27 March.

According to the authority, the committee deferred the proposal to allow a site visit to take place. The plans will be discussed again on 24 April.

'Experts of our backyard'

Chris Thomas, 61, from the residents' group, believes people’s concerns have not been listened to.

“People say we are NIMBYs, but we are actually experts of our backyard,” he said.

Mr Thomas believes the proposed site access is a dangerous location.

“Cars regularly end up in the ditch next to this road," he added.

“Developers want to put a footpath next to this road so instead of going into the ditch, cars will go onto the footpath."

Caroline Ridge, 45, also from the group, has a young family and lives close to the planned development.

“One of the joys of living in a village is thinking your children can just go out for walks and bike rides,” she said.

“My fear is the road will not be safe for my children. I’m terrified."
