A group of deputies has demanded members of Guernsey’s Policy & Resources Committee resign before a motion of no confidence is submitted.

Deputy Charles Parkinson and six other deputies are calling for P&R to step down before Tuesday after the committee's plans for tax reform were rejected by politicians.

The five members of P&R have said they will not resign and intend to continue in their posts.

P&R has five business days to respond to Deputy Charles Parkinson’s letter asking them to step down.

Deputies Simon Vermeulen, David De Lisle, Andy Cameron, Andy Taylor, Aidan Matthews and Marc Leadbeater have also signed the motion.

President of P&R, Deputy Peter Ferbrache had suggested the best way forward was to call an early general election.

The next step for those behind the calls for P&R to stand down is to write to the Bailiff lodging a motion of no confidence.

The motion of no confidence would need a majority of votes from deputies to be approved.
