Man charged over serious injury hit-and-run crash

A man has been charged with driving offences after another man suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Weymouth
The victim, one of two pedestrians, was struck by a black Volkswagen Golf on Abbotsbury Road on Tuesday shortly before 20:30 BST.
The man, aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance. The second man struck was not seriously hurt.
A 24-year-old man from the town is due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court on Friday.
Dorset police said he had been charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident.
He has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and assault.
The force said the car was driven away and abandoned further down the road after hitting the two pedestrians.
The driver and a passenger from the car were reported to have fled the scene.
